While working at the county fair this weekend. I observed someone doing something that really annoys me and I thought of a blog I had written a while back and so here is my pet peeve blog.
Pet peeves—I have a number of them that I would like to share. I guess I have more than just a few; I might have hundreds of them! So I wonder what that says about me if I have hundreds of pet peeves? I might have a serious problem.
Let’s define a pet peeve first.
Pet Peeve: Something that a particular person finds especially annoying. A pet peeve or pet aversion is a minor annoyance that an individual identifies as particularly annoying to themselves, to a greater degree than others may find.
The reason I thought of this is because over the past week, I seem to have been annoyed quite a bit. Usually, pet peeves come from your family members, coworkers, friends, and the people you are close to and love. Here are some pet peeves that put me over the top, in no particular order:
- When people are late or habitually late. (Be on time, people!)
- When people leave their mouth open while eating. (Shut it!)
- People who “chop” at their food. (Fork or spoon it and eat it, please.)
- People who fart in public and think it’s funny. (I’m done with you!)
- People who talk really loud all the time. (Take it down a notch, Tarzan.)
- When you tear at your fingernails or toenails instead of cutting them. (Fingernail clippers were invented in 1875!)
- Anyone who answers their cell phone while in a meeting. (I wish I had a taser on me.)
- Couples who show a public display of affection. (Please stop, nobody wants to watch a suckface going on, so get a room.)
- Anyone who plays with their hair all the time. (I wish I had scissors on me.)
- People who talk to themselves or start singing to themselves. (Get professional help… now.)
That’s my top 10.

To be fair, my loved ones (family members, coworkers, and friends) have often told me what I do that really annoys them. So here we go, how I annoy people, in no particular order:
- I whistle most of the time. (Hey, I’m a happy person!)
- I make noises, moans, and groans, and I sigh a lot. (I’m almost 70, my body is quitting on me!)
- I clip my toenails and fingernails anywhere and don’t gather them up. (What’s the big deal? You can’t see them buried in the carpet anyway!)
- I watch TV, listen to the radio, and use my cell phone all at the same time. (I am the king of multitasking!)
- I talk too much. (Hey, I’m in radio, I have things to say!)
- I wear too much cologne. (I want to smell good!)
And that’s about it—only 6 pet peeves! I would say that’s pretty good.
I need to mention my biggest pet peeve, and it involves my wife, my daughter, and sometimes a friend: when we are out to eat, and without warning, they reach over with their fork and take food off my plate! “Can I try this? I wonder what this tastes like? What is this?” (You have your own food!)
There, I got that off my chest!! This blogging is good therapy for me. Pet peeves are a part of life and make life interesting and fun. So I encourage everyone to laugh at what annoys you and laugh at how you annoy people
