GREATEST SPORTS MOVIES

Mitchell Syltie and I have a podcast called Two Guys Weigh In Podcast. Last week Mitchell surprised me by asking me what my favorite sports movie was?

That caught me off guard and I quickly blurted out Hoosiers, because I had just watched it a few weeks ago. I also mentioned Pistol Pete because I had recently watched that movie too. Then my mind went blank! I became frustrated because I love sports movies and I could only think of but a few more. So this week’s podcast will be devoted entirely to sports movies. Over Easter I asked this question to my sons and grandchildren and they came up with some great movies that I hadn’t thought of. We had a fun discussion on our favorite ones.

Saturday night while watching the NCAA basketball tournaments, I decided to Google the top 100 sports movies of all time! That was a mistake because I stopped watching basketball and was intently reading about all the sports movies. When I saw the list of 100, I felt embarrassed because there were so many good ones I forgot about last week. There are so many good sports movies that it is hard to pick my favorite. But, I do have a top 10 that I will talk about on this week’s podcast. Here are two of my favorites, Rudy and Field of Dreams.

I am going to name a few in this blog and you will have to tune in to Two Guys Weigh In Podcast which drops Wednesday afternoon.

Miracle, is about the 1980 USA Olympic Hockey team and Herb Brooks.

Brian’s Song, is about the relationship between Chicago Bears Brian Piccolo and Gayle Sayers.

Ali, is the movie about Muhammad Ali. Will Smith played Ali and did an amazing job.

League of Their Own, is about women’s professional baseball during the war. Tom Hanks did a great job of acting in this movie.

American Underdog, is about the story of Kurt Warner.

We Are Marshall, is about the Marshall football team that died in a plane crash.

So many more others to mention, but you will need to listen to this week’s podcast. Look for it on the KLQP sports Facebook page and the KLQP website and other social media sites, including Spotify.

I would love to hear your favorite sports movies. Leave a comment.
