I have been blogging now for almost two years. It’s been a great experience along with a learning experience and lots of fun. Now I am starting a different kind of a blog. I had a friend tell me she enjoys all the pictures that I take and post on my social media sites and she suggested that I start a picture blog!

At first I didn’t know what she was talking about, so I did some research on a picture blog. I found it very interesting and after thinking about it I decided I would try a picture blog. I do take many pictures during the week. I use my cell phone and sometimes I wish I had a really nice camera to capture my pictures. A good camera takes better pictures than a cell phone. I guess my cell phone will have to do for now.

I have always enjoyed taking pictures. I say all the time if I wasn’t in radio I would be a photographer. I have some friends that are amazing photographers and I often go to their websites or Facebook pages to look at their photos. John White from the Ortonville area takes pictures of the vanishing prairie. Rob Radkow also does some prairie shoots, and he takes amazing pictures of landscapes of western Minnesota and South Dakota. Kristi Fernholz does fine art photography on the prairie. When I take a picture I always think of the composition. Composition simply means putting things together in the shot. I’m always thinking of the background, what the lighting is like and making clear what the subject is. I love photography, but it’s all done with my cell phone. Just by writing this blog I’m excited and want to go purchase a nice camera.

I write one blog a week and release my blog on Sunday afternoons. My picture blogs will also be once a week and released on Wednesday evenings. Now a picture blog can be one picture or a collage of pictures. It might be my favorite picture of that week or at times, it could be someone else’s picture that I really like. I have started a hashtag #selfieswithPaul so there might be lots of selfie pictures with someone. Here is a example of an collage picture blog.

I’m super excited to start a picture blog on Wednesday. The response and following that I have received for my written blog has been overwhelming. People come up to me weekly and tell me how much they enjoy reading my blog. Sometimes I don’t even know some of them. I was in Tyler Minnesota broadcasting a basketball game last winter and a complete stranger from Tyler started talking about my blog to me. I find it so rewarding when someone appreciates what I write about. I don’t really consider myself a writer, I have a lot to learn about writing but I am getting better at it. My wife Roxie is my editor and she is a big help

I have received comments from around the world on my WordPress site from other bloggers. Just recently I’ve started to get paid to blog, which isn’t why I blog. I blog because I’m having fun and have fallen in love with writing. Thank you to everyone who reads my blog and I hope you enjoy the picture blog on Wednesdays.
