GRANDKIDS ARE A BLESSING

Last Monday, it was National Grandchildren’s Day! A day to celebrate grandchildren. Let me tell you about mine.

A couple of months ago, it was National Grandpa Day and I texted all of my grandchildren earlier that day reminding them that it was National Grandpa Day and I expected to be showered with love and special treatment that day. All in fun. Well my granddaughter Gretta texted me back to remind me that National Grandchildren’s Day was Monday, May 12th and she expected the same. I put that date May 12th on my calendar in my phone so I wouldn’t forget.

Last Monday, early, I texted all my grandchildren to tell them how proud I am of them and how much I loved each and every one of them. I had a special relationship with my grandpa Raymo and my grandmother Dorothy Bungarden. When I was a senior in high school, my grandpa Raymo wrote me a letter that was real personal and loving telling me how much God loves me and how he has a plan for my life and to read my Bible every day and stay close to him. I have that letter in my Bible and read it often. It means a lot to me.

Broc

I have six grandchildren and a granddog Kona. My oldest grandchild, Broc is graduating from high school. He lives in Derby, Kansas and graduating from Derby High School. Broc will be attending Wichita State. We don’t get to see Broc and his sister Callie very often because of the distance between us. It’s hard not to be involved in their lives like we are with our other grandchildren that live around us. Broc is a big NFL football fan and loves the Bears.

Callie has been a Girl Scout since she was very little and still involved with Girl Scouts. She has grown into a fine young lady. She is a very kind person. I called her on her birthday the other day to remind her about the day she was born in the Sanford Hospital in Canby. It seems just like the other day, not 16 years ago.

Zane lives in St. Cloud and just got his driver’s license. His goal is to attend an Ivy League college. He’s a very intelligent kid. He loves sports and is involved with his church. Zane is a very caring person. He always says thank you and he’s a hugger like his grandpa.

Adelyn will be a senior next year at Montevideo High School. She loves kids and enjoys being a nanny. She has had two knee surgeries so hasn’t been able to play sports like she wants to. She’s a very caring person and family is very important to her.

Gretta is our athlete. She loves sports and plays them all. She works hard at improving her skills and is very passionate about what she does. She’s thoughtful and texts me often, which means alot to me. We talk about sports all the time.

Eli, is 7 and is already a walking history book. He knows everything about everything. It’s like talking to an adult.  Eli is a huge pro wrestling fan and loves basketball and baseball. He is always asking grandma to play a board game. He doesn’t ask me because I hate board games.

Kona, is a Sheepadoodle dog and belongs to Seth and Brianna. I treat Kona like a grandkid! He has his own personality and is a big part of our family. I enjoy dog watching him.

I’ve been told by my kids that six grandchildren is all I get. They are all done. I love all of them very much and enjoy spending time with them. I just pray I have a few more years left in me to see them grow and have families of their own. How special would that be?
