I need to do an update on my new concession food likes. I’ve blogged a few times about concession food and some of my favorites. Here’s an update.
As most of you know, I spend a lot of time in high school gyms. I’ve been broadcasting sports for over 33 years and have visited many concession stands at various high schools. I don’t even want to know how many pizza slices, hot dogs and popcorn I’ve consumed in those 33 years. I did some rough math and have broadcasted 5000 or more games. So that’s about 5000 visits to the concession stand! Wowza!

My likes over the years have changed. Early on, I was a big pizza guy at games. Not so much now. My love for popcorn hasn’t changed, I’m good for a bag a game. Lately, it’s a Diet Sundrop and Snickers bar. My friend Rob started me on Snickers a while back. Whenever he would attend a game he would stop by the press box and throw a Snickers at me.

This year, I’ve added Peanut M&M’s. I like to snack on them while broadcasting games. A few likes of my latest favorites are LQPV’s Subway sandwiches, 6 inch ham is what I get and put lots of condiments on it. Maccray has a huge dill pickle, love them. Montevideo has Cold Stone Ice Cream. RTR has fresh recently made Carmel corn! It’s awesome. Dawson-Boyd has the best hot dogs. I really like Canbys popcorn. Canby concession stand workers are so much fun especially Catherine Fink.

Sometimes, the food at games aren’t from the concession stand, but from school groups. Just recently I bought a Smores Chocolate Chip cookie at LQPV. I did a short video of my smores cookie and it got over 25,000 views! I think it was from a bake sale that the robotics team was doing. Amazing!

Another group had a loaded bake potato and I ate well that night. Lots of chili feeds and nachos. Speaking of Nachos, Mitchell and I shared one at Minneota Friday night. We destroyed it in minutes, it was so good.

My friend John Millea of the Minnesota State High School League specializes in pretzels and cheese. Never enough cheese for me when I buy a pretzel. During the baseball and softball season, it’s grilled hamburgers and brats!
So tell me about your favorite food at concession stands?
