I got into a discussion the other day with a friend about which city I like better. Sioux Falls, Duluth or Fargo?
I found that interesting because I really like all three of them. To pick one over the other is hard. Roxie and I have spent a lot of time in Sioux Falls and Duluth over the years. Fargo, not so much. When I worked in our family business I spent a lot of time in Fargo on business. When my daughter attended college at both Minnesota State Moorhead and North Dakota State we visited Fargo often. I attended Minnesota Moorhead for a summer in 1976 when I was part of the Summer Stock Theater at MSUM. I also worked at the campus radio station that summer which was really fun. My radio name was Jed Midnight!

One of my earliest memories of Fargo is when we attended the Billy Graham Crusade in June of 1987. We made it a family event and camped in a campground that weekend. This is before the FargoDome was built and the Crusade was on the old Bison football field. It was a great time and we explored the Fargo/Moorhead area that weekend.

When my daughter Brianna graduated from Lac qui Parle Valley, I took her to a Shania Twain concert at the FargoDome. We both liked Shania Twain and had a great time. I have attended a couple of concerts at the FargoDome. The best was Taylor Swift, it was an awesome show.

Duluth, I can’t remember the number of times we have vacationed in Duluth. We love it! It’s a beautiful area. Two years ago we stayed at the motel right underneath the lift bridge. You could basically walk everywhere to get around Canal Park. While we were there we ate at the Green Mill near Canal Park. We have a friend who waitresses there. She gave us free cheesecake. I don’t think she does that for everyone. Duluth has a lot to offer and I never get tired of sight-seeing on the North Shore.
Sioux Falls, it seems at times we live in Sioux Falls. If Roxie and I want to get away for a weekend we go to Sioux Falls. The number of eating places they have is crazy. Our favorite place is visiting Falls Park. It’s something about water and water rushing that draws people. It is a very unique place to visit and we love it. Sometimes we get takeout and go and sit at Falls Park and have a picnic.

Lately, we have visited Sioux Falls for the wrong reasons. We are older and have recently made trips for medical reasons. Roxie visits Vance Thompson Eye Clinic often and I have been to Avera lately. The medical appointments lead to visiting Falls Park afterwards so it all works out. A few times we brought our bikes and biked the trails around Sioux Falls which was a blast. We have gone to concerts there. We saw my favorite comedian Jim Gaffigan at the Denny Sanford Center and I took Roxie to see Donny Osmond at the Washington Pavilion. Sioux Falls is a fast growing community. Lots to offer.
So, Sioux Falls, Duluth or Fargo? My friend wanted to know which is my favorite. I chose Sioux Falls.
