I think Friday was the best day of the summer for me.
I spent it with my granddaughter Adelyn, we were at a fair eating fair food and the weather was perfect with temperatures in the 60’s. We had VIP tickets to one of our favorite groups, Tigerlily Gold, in the evening. I also was working in the Q-92 fair booth visiting with people, which I enjoy very much. It was a fantastic and memorable day.

I was at the Stevens County Fair in Morris most of the week working. We have a booth in the Lee Center where we broadcast from. I did many interviews from the fair. I enjoy getting to know people and their stories. Friday, my granddaughter Adelyn went with me because we were going to the Eli Young Band and Tigerlily Gold concert. She was excited about that. I had two VIP tickets to the concert. I thought it was pretty cool that my teenage granddaughter wanted to hang out with grandpa most of the day.

I did my interviews that afternoon and finished up working, then Adelyn and I hit the food court at the fair. Stevens County Fair is one of my favorite fairs. They have so much going on and a wide variety of food vendors. They have sweet corn ice cream and I wanted Adelyn to try it. We got two ears of corn and sweet corn ice cream. She loved it.

The gates were to open at 530 for the concert, so we went to stand in line to make sure we were close to the stage. We visited with the people around us in line and complained because they opened the gate at 5:50. With VIP tickets, you enter through a different gate. I thought this was kind of cool. They scanned my phone with our tickets on it and then they handed each of us a really nice lawn chair. Then we took our lawn chairs and found a place to sit in front of the stage. Adelyn and I set our chairs in row 2 and had great seats. The lawn chairs were high quality and said Stevens County Fair on the back.

Both of us came to see Tigerlily Gold. They are two sisters from North Dakota making it big in Nashville. They put on a fantastic show and are amazing singers. My highlight of the night was when they were just about finished, they said they were going to be on the side of the stage, signing autographs and taking pictures. Adelyn bolted from her chair to get in line on the side of the stage. What happen next was cool.

When Tigerlily Gold was done they made their way to the side of the stage. I walked over there and saw that Adelyn was in the front of the line. So I did what any grandpa would do, I cut in line to be closer to my granddaughter. She was third in line, and we got to meet and take pictures with Tigerlily Gold. They were very kind. I told them we were on a grandpa/granddaughter date and Kendra thought that was so sweet. Adelyn was on cloud nine, and so was I.
The night ended watching the Eli Young Band, but we were still so excited about our pictures with Tigerlily Gold. We couldn’t believe it. We talked about that experience all the way home. It was a fantastic day spent with my granddaughter.
