On the weekend, do you ever look back at the past week’s events and think that was a busy week or that was a bad week for me? Or do you say with a smile on your face that was a fantastic week and a lot of fun. Let me tell you about my fun week.
I don’t get too many days off from work, which is okay with me, but Monday was New Year’s Day and I really enjoyed just staying home with Roxie. We had a very relaxing day doing absolutely nothing but watching a couple of movies and snacking. I really needed a day of rest. Tuesday didn’t start out too well. I was going to work and went into my garage and I had a completely flat tire. I didn’t feel like changing a tire and to be honest I don’t know if I even know where the spare tire is on my car or even know how to change a tire. It’s been years since I’ve changed a flat tire. So I called Mike at LQP Coop, Mike is great at servicing my vehicles. Problem solved.

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday I broadcasted basketball games. I went to Canby Thursday. The people of Canby are fantastic! I get treated like royalty at Canby High School. The people are so kind. I was watching the JV game and standing next to the gym entrance visiting with the lady taking tickets and almost everyone greeted me with a “Hi Paul” and a few thanked me for coming over and broadcasting Lancer basketball. My good friend DeLon Clarksean, who is the public address announcer introduced me to the crowd before the national anthem. I think he likes to see my face turn red. He is an amazing human. Catherine Fink, who works the concession stand is always fun to visit and laugh with. I always tell her she has the best concession stand. Perry Fink, the AD always asks me if I need anything and makes sure my table is set up for me to broadcast in the wrestling room. I always walk out of the Canby gym with a smile on my face.

Thursday, January 4th we finally received some snow! I woke up and looked out the window and the ground was white! I love winter but I must admit that it has been really nice not to worry about slipping on ice or snow and not having to run the snow blower. But that was a very long time without any snow on the ground. This is Minnesota.

Saturday the Stevens County Fair board in Morris had a press release to break the news that the Eli Young Band will be performing at the fair August 9th. I posted that announcement on our KLQP Facebook page and immediately I received a text from my granddaughter Adelyn, who is a huge country fan. Here is her text. “Grandpa, you gotta introduce the Eli Young Band at the Stevens County Fair this year and get us tickets! I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE the Eli Young Band!!” She must think grandpa has some pull with the Stevens County Fairboard! They asked me last year to introduce the main attraction at the fair. Stevens County Fair is a great fair and I look forward to it every year. Also Adelyn was pretty happy this week, she got her drivers license!

This week Miss Minnesota Angelina Amerigo left for Florida for the Miss America Pageant. I first met Angelina at the Stevens County Fair thanks to my cousin Bree Kallhoff. After she was crowned Miss Minnesota I spent time with her and her mother in Morris and they gave me a great interview. I am really excited for her. She is on a mission. I had the pleasure to meet her father at the fair also, he had a booth next to mine and we had a wonderful time visiting. Victor is full of life and is very proud of his daughter. He told me Angelina is going places.
So, as you can see I had a fun and interesting week. Tell me about your week.
