One of the best parts of my job in radio is meeting and interviewing people. I really enjoy talking to people and hearing their story. Everyone has a story to tell.
This past week I had some pretty good interactions with some pretty cool people. It was Severe Weather Awareness Week, so I interviewed a few people that know about weather and preparation for severe weather. One of them is Aidyn Bruns a Canby High School graduate who is a student at the University of Oklahoma. She wants to be a meteorologist and currently works at the campus television station. She said she always has been fascinated with weather. She said at first it was uncomfortable being in front of the camera but now absolutely loves doing the weather on tv. It was really fun interviewing her.

Also during Severe Weather Awareness Week I interviewed Lyndon Worden who is the Assistant Emergency Manager for LQP County. He has a lot of experience with bringing all the different agencies together in case of an emergency. Dawn Bjorgan who works for Countryside Public Health talked about her role in case of an emergency such as tornados or other disasters that could occur in our area. She deals with the health aspect. They were both very interesting interviews.

I always have Stan Olson from Madison come in. Stan keeps records of how much rain we get each year in LqP County and has done this since the 1950’s. For instance, Madison has had 3 inches or more rainfalls 6 times since 1940. These are the kind of records Stan keeps and he is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to local weather.

Another fun interview this week was on Friday at the LQPV baseball game in Ruthton. The Eagles lost to the Knights 11-9 and Bart Hill and I were interviewing RTR’s centerfielder Sean Griesse in the post-game show. I asked him was the sun giving him problems in centerfield? He responded saying that the red car parked behind home plate was giving off a glare and it was hard to see the ball. Then he turned and pointed to the red car, which happend to be mine!! We had a good laugh.
I also interviewed a urologist for the Wellness Wednesday program and we talked about peeing! That was interesting. Sierra Kanton came in and talked with me about the MMN Elementary prom that was held Saturday. That was a cool idea. the elementary kids could ask grandma or dad or whoever to prom. I saw the pictures on social media and it looked like everyone had a great time.

Saturday I went over to Dawson-Boyd High School and interviewed the robotics team! Those kids are super smart and passionate about robotics. They are leaving this week for Houston, Texas for the World Robotics Championship. My best part of the interview was finding out that the robot is a female robot! This was the first female robot they have ever had. They had a gender reveal party earlier. Genius idea.
I’m a people person and just love talking to people and learning more about them and what they are doing. My job allows me to meet so many people and hear about their struggles, successes and passions in life.
