MOVIE TIME

I don’t get out much! Well I do, to spend time with my family or a high school sporting event for work. Once in a while we go out with friends and we did that last Friday night.

When Roxie and I go to a movie it’s usually at the Grand Theater in Madison. It’s nice to have a movie theater in our small town. It’s very reasonably priced, a movie and snack around $20. Can’t beat that.  We should go to the Grand more than we do, but in my opinion a lot of the movies coming out of Hollywood don’t interest me, and I don’t really care for the animated movies. I get teased at work a lot about not liking animated movies.

This past Friday six of us traveled over to Watertown South Dakota to see the opening night of The Chosen season 5! Roxie and I are big fans of The Chosen series. Season 5, episodes 1 and 2 were released Friday. I have never been to the Odyssey 8 Movie Theater in Watertown.  I have been to big movie theaters before in St Cloud and Sioux Falls and they are really nice, but what I experienced Friday was pretty cool.

Our friend Naomi bought our tickets online and was able to pick our seats. While standing in line to get some popcorn and a soda, I noticed a picture of White Castle hamburgers! I was shocked to see that in a movie theater. As soon as I saw that I knew I had to order them. My brother Jim is a big fan of White Castle sliders.  He buys the suitcases. Also on the menu was pizza, hot dogs, ice cream and more food items that I’m not used to seeing at the movie theater. I was like a kid at Christmas.  We ordered a large soda with a large popcorn, Peanut M&M’s, bottled water, plus my White Castle sliders.  Cost was $35! Plus my two tickets at $15 each. After the movies we went to Applebees for appetizers and to talk about the movie. Total date night cost Friday eveing was about $100! Grand Theater date night in Madison just $20.

Another thing I found to be very cool was the theater seats! They were huge recliners with electric foot rests. Way better than my recliner and favorite chair at home. People covered up with blankets that they brought from home or purchased at the concession stand. I didn’t feel like I was surrounded by people. I had so much room and it was very comfortable. Like I said I don’t get out much. But it was a pretty cool experience going to the movies the other night! And by the way I highly recommend watching The Chosen!!
