DON’T GET MUCH DONE!

In the fall I don’t get much done on Saturday and Sunday because of football.

This is kind of embarrassing to admit but during football season I’m in front of the TV watching football. It is my favorite sport by far. Saturday and Sunday it’s all football all day long. It all starts Friday for me, broadcasting high school football.  I love Friday night high school football. Then Saturday morning comes and I work at the radio station co-hosting the Coaches Show with Dick Newman. I usually get off work at noon and rush home to watch college football.

South Dakota State Jackrabbits

Saturday is my day to watch college football. I enjoy watching the Gophers, North Dakota State Bison, South Dakota State, Minnesota State Moorhead, Southwest State and following any of the Big Ten teams.

Zach Durfee and Jerry and Renae. Washington upset Michigan Saturday

This year I’ve been watching a lot of the Washington Huskies because former Dawson-Boyd Blackjack Zach Durfee is on the team. He’s gotten a lot of playing time and is doing great. It’s fun to watch someone you know play on national tv.

Jack Bungarden #30 for Minnesota State Moorhead and his dad Pete. Pete is my cousin.

I watch Minnesota State Moorhead because my cousin Pete Bungarden’s son Jack starts at linebacker for the Dragons. He’s a very good linebacker. The Dragons have upset a couple teams this year. Last year my friend Dan Tuckett and I went to Marshall to watch him play. It’s fun to be at small college games in person.

My remote really gets a workout on Saturdays.  I switch back and forth between South Dakota State and North Dakota State if they are playing at the same time.  I’m more of a Jackrabbit fan than a Bison. I usually turn down the TV volume and listen to their local sports broadcasters. Both of them do a good job and are fun to listen to.

This past Saturday was fun watching the Gophers upset the Trojans from USC. I always listen to Mike Grimm on the radio while watching the TV. I was flipping back and forth cheering on the Washington Huskies and was happy they beat Michigan. The biggest upset was Vanderbilt beating #1 Alabama. I watched the 4th quarter of that game. I was also checking my phone to see how Bethel and St. John’s were doing in the MIAC.

Grandson Eli and me in front of US Bank Stadium.

Since the Vikings were playing in London Sunday the game was played at 830am. We didn’t have church in the morning because our service was at 5pm so it worked out well to watch them. As you can see I watch a lot of football in the fall. I have a very understanding wife on the weekends. I did find time to clean my garage out Saturday during a break in the action, plus I pruned a tree. So I did get something done. It’s not all football on the weekend in the fall.
