I hit the jackpot covering spring high school sports this year. I won’t be home all week thanks to the state golf and state baseball tournaments.
I will be at Pebble Creek golf course in Becker Tuesday and Wednesday covering state golf. Thursday and Friday I’ll be in St Cloud for state baseball. So it’s going to be a fun and wild week! This past week I spent some time with the state golfers that I’ll be covering and interviewing them a head of time. I went to the Canby golf course on Monday and visited with Coach Richter and his daughter Maddison, who is an 8th grader. She is really excited to be at state golf. The Canby boys Dylan Houseman, Jack Abrahamson and Brady Hulzebos are ready for next week.

Dawson-Boyd boys and girls teams are going to state! It’s the first time in school history for the girls going as a team. I’m really excited for them. Lindsey Lund wasn’t able to be at practice when I was there, so the next day she came to the radio station. It was great timing, after I interviewed her she stayed and joined the podcast that I do with Mitchell. She was our guest. She’s fun to talk to and has a great personality. Perfect for radio. I also went out to the Madison Country Club and interviewed LQPV Carson Besonen, it’s Carson’s 4th trip to state. I interviewed Molly Halvorson and Peyton Sachs inside the clubhouse because it was way too windy. State golf is always so much fun

LQPV baseball team punched there ticket to state by defeating Dawson-Boyd twice in the championship game in Granite Falls. I was very impressed by the number of people that were cheering on the Blackjacks and Eagles! Richter Field was full. I felt for the Blackjack coaches and players when they lost, that was tough. They will be back next year as they only graduate one senior, Blake Thompson

The Eagles will play the number one ranked and #1 seeded Cherry Tigers Thursday at 3:30 in St Cloud! It’s been a fun ride for the LQPV baseball team. A side note, the Montevideo Thunder Hawks also made it to state in AA. They also play #1 seed Esko. My son Brandon is on the Montevideo coaching staff. They play in St Cloud Thursday as well and sadly at the same time the Eagles play.
So here we go! Fun and busy week of high school sports! Listen on 92.1fm KLQP and online at http://www.klqpfm@farmerstel.net
