Every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas I always feel like I’m running non-stop. It’s the busiest time of the year and some days I can’t wait till the holiday season is over. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy this time of year but it can be tiring and overwhelming at times. I have some holiday thoughts to share today.

Christmas music. Do you enjoy listening to Christmas music? I really don’t. I like to hear a song or two, but I don’t want to listen to it all day long. When I am in the Cities I listen to KTIS, a Christian radio station. I like their music and for the most part it is commercial free. The day after Thanksgiving I was in the Cities for state football and KTIS was already playing non stop Christmas music! The day after Thanksgiving! NO! At KLQP we play a Christmas song after every break then back to the oldies! That is the way is should be when listening to the radio.

No Snow. I know I am in the minority with this thought, but we need snow! It’s December in Minnesota! It’s just not right to see the grass and not snow on the ground. Plus the warm temps in the 40’s and 50’s last week was crazy. I want winter!

Christmas cookies. Today I am baking star cookies for the baking contest Tuesday. I will eat most of them before the day is over. This time of year I do a lot of snacking on holiday treats. Some of our listeners will bring a plate of cookies or bars for us at the radio station. Bless them! I recently purchased dozens of cookies and truffles and more from McKenna Yost. She does a great job with her baking business. I shared them with my coworkers and family. I went to the Santa Helpers event at the Madison VFW this past week and picked up some Sundrop cupcakes from Isaiah Tuckett and shared them at work as well. Christmas goodies are my weakness during the holiday season.

Last week I blogged about shopping at your local small businesses during the holiday season. I received a lot of comments about that and support in my crusade to shop small and shop local. I make it a point to go out of my way to buy from small businesses during the holiday season. It’s so important to our local economy. To be honest a good number of small business owners are my friends.

Another part of the holiday season for me is high school sports. The Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team are doing well early in the season. They had a huge win Saturday beating second ranked Cass Lake-Bena at the Breakdown Classic in Hopkins. The LQPV/DB Shadows dance team is off to a great start. Team United wrestling team had an impressive individual tournament Saturday. So winter sports are off and running with a few holiday tournaments coming up
There you have some of my random holiday thoughts
