Roxie and I have been in Bayfield, Wisconsin for the last two days for a little get away. We have never been to the Apostle Islands and have heard so many good things about the area.

I think we lucked out and found a great place to stay. It’s called the Woodside Cottages. It’s about one mile from downtown Bayfield. It’s just a husband and wife that take care of twelve cottages. They have no employees. They do everything. Jonathan visited with us in our cottage because our TV remote wasn’t working and he said he and his wife Laura cleaned 8 cottages this morning. They are really nice people. The place is so well kept up and very clean. If we come back we will make sure to stay here again.

Sunday afternoon we spent three hours on Lake Superior touring the Apostle Islands. We were on a large boat that held 150 people. The captain narrated the whole trip telling us about the history of the 32 islands. He was pretty funny with the jokes he was telling. The islands are beautiful and Lake Superior was pretty calm for most of the trip. Roxie was worried she would get sea sick and I was too. The only negative part of the trip was that it rained most of the time.

Sunday was my birthday and Roxie said let’s go out to a nice restaurant. So we asked the owner where can I get a good steak? He said the Pier Inn. I was hungry for a good steak. Of course Bayfield is a tourist place and you have to expect to wait at restaurants. So we went to the Pier Inn so I can get my steak and waited one hour till we got a booth. The waitress came over and the first thing she said as she handed us the menu is that we are out of Ribeye steak! You’ve got to be kidding me. Oh well I ordered a boneless pork chop and it was very good. Roxie was sad because I didn’t get my birthday steak. It’s been a great birthday!
I’ve been checking my social media sites today and want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. All the texts, phone calls and posts were much appreciated, Thank you.
